Who we are
Karui is provided by:
Karui - Antoni Krzykowski

REGON: 545679099

Write to this address about anything: when something doesn't work, with a complaint, with a withdrawal notice, and about your personal data. We reply in Polish and English. The same address is the point of contact for users and authorities under the Digital Services Act (DSA).
In these terms, "we" means Karui and "you" means the person using the service.
2
What Karui is
Karui is a web application at karui.eu. It lets you talk to language models and use features around the conversation: memory, projects with files, documents in answers, web search and, on the Pro plan, connectors (links to services you choose yourself).
You are talking to an AI model, not a person. The models run inside hardware enclaves at NEAR AI or through Phala. For Heavy, when Phala has no model host of its own, its gateway passes the message to Tinfoil's enclaves after verifying them. Your content is encrypted in your browser with a key we don't have. Section 4 of the privacy policy explains exactly how the encryption works and what it does not cover.
We provide the service electronically, through a website. The contract is made when you confirm your e-mail address and your account is created. It runs for an indefinite period.
3
What you need
- an up-to-date web browser (Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari) with JavaScript, Web Crypto and IndexedDB enabled, and the sign-in cookie allowed,
- an internet connection,
- an e-mail address you can access.
Karui also works in a mobile browser. There is no separate mobile app. Some browsers turn off IndexedDB in private mode, and the application may not work there.
4
Your account
Age. You must be at least 16 to use Karui.
Sign-up. You create an account with an e-mail address and a password, then confirm the address through the link we send. One account belongs to one person. Don't share it with others.
Password and recovery phrase. Your password never reaches us, and your content is encrypted with a key that only your password or your 12-word recovery phrase can unlock. This means:
- if you forget your password but have your recovery phrase, you set a new password and keep all your data;
- if you lose both your password and your phrase, your existing content cannot be recovered. Neither we nor anyone else can do it. You get your account back, but you start over.
Keep your recovery phrase somewhere safe. We are not responsible for content lost because you lost both your password and your phrase, as this follows directly from the encryption that protects your data.
Account security. Keep your password to yourself. You can turn on two-step verification in Settings. If you think someone has got into your account, change your password and write to us.

Plans and limits
Free costs nothing. It gives you the Light model, memory, one project, documents in answers, images and 10 web searches a day.
Pro is paid (section 6). It gives you every model, including Heavy, a choice of provider for a model both providers offer, unlimited projects, longer conversations, 50 web searches a day and connectors.
Usage limits. Each plan has a token limit over a time window. Today these are:
- Free: 10,000 tokens per 24 hours,
- Pro: 800,000 tokens per 5 hours, and no more than 3,200,000 a week.
Tokens count by what the model costs. One answer token from the Light model counts as one. Reading the conversation counts for less, and bigger models count for more (Heavy roughly nine times as much). You can see the current limits and your usage on the plans page and in Settings, under Usage. When you reach a limit, you wait until it resets, and on Free you can move to Pro.
Limits protect the service from abuse and let us keep the price where it is. Don't work around them, for example by opening several Free accounts.
6
Payments and the Pro subscription
Price. Pro costs €18 a month plus VAT at your country's rate. You see the total including tax before you pay.
Who takes the payment. Payments are handled by Polar Software, Inc. When you buy, Polar is the seller (the "merchant of record"): it takes the payment, charges and pays the VAT, and issues your receipt. By paying, you also accept Polar's buyer terms. We never see or store your card details.
Renewal. The subscription renews automatically every month, and the fee is charged at the start of each period until you cancel.
Cancelling. You can cancel Pro at any time: Settings, Billing tab, "Cancel plan". Pro then keeps working until the end of the period you paid for, after which your account moves to Free and nothing in it is deleted. Cancelling does not refund the current period. You can undo it until the period ends.
Refunds. Pro fees are not refundable. You don't get money back after cancelling, for unused allowance (limits reset but don't carry over to later periods), after deleting your account, or when you simply stop using Pro. We refund only where the law requires it: when you withdraw from the contract (section 7), when the service doesn't conform to the contract and we don't fix it (section 8), and in the cases in sections 12 and 13.
Price changes. We'll tell you about a change to the Pro price by e-mail at least 30 days before the period it applies to. If you don't agree, you can cancel before that period and you won't pay the new price.
7
Right of withdrawal
7.1. Who it applies to
If you buy the Pro plan as a consumer, you can withdraw from the contract within 14 days without giving a reason. A sole trader who buys Pro for their business, but not as a tool of their profession, has the same right (Article 38a of the Polish Consumer Rights Act). A business without that protection can't withdraw.
7.2. How long you have
14 days from the day the contract is made, which is the day you pay for Pro. It is enough to send us your statement before those 14 days are up.
Later months of the same subscription don't start a new period. If you cancel Pro and buy it again later, that is a new contract with a new 14 days.
7.3. Pro starts right away
Pro starts working as soon as you pay, within the period in which you can still withdraw. So when you buy it, on the plans page or in the last step of setting up your account, you tick a box saying that you want the service to start right away and that you know you'll pay for the time you had it if you withdraw. You can't buy Pro without this consent. We'll e-mail you a confirmation of the purchase that includes it.
7.4. How to withdraw
Write to admin@karui.eu, ideally from the e-mail address on your account. You can use the model form in section 7.7, but you don't have to: any clear statement will do, for example "I withdraw from my Pro plan contract". We'll confirm by e-mail that we received it.
Withdrawing is not the same as cancelling your subscription in Settings. Cancelling only turns off renewal: Pro keeps working until the end of the period you paid for, and nothing is refunded. Withdrawing ends the contract straight away and refunds the days you didn't use.
7.5. What happens after you withdraw
- Your Pro plan ends and your account goes back to Free. Your chats, memory and projects stay on your account, within the Free plan's limits.
- We refund you within 14 days of receiving your statement, using the same payment method you paid with, unless you expressly agree to another one. The refund costs you nothing.
- Payments are handled by Polar, so the refund comes back through Polar.
7.6. How much you get back
You pay for the days you had Pro, from the day you bought it to the day you sent your statement (Article 35 of the Polish Consumer Rights Act, Article 14(3) of Directive 2011/83/EU). We work it out as: amount paid × those days ÷ days in the billing period. We refund the rest.
For example: Pro costs €18 plus VAT, which is €22.14 with Polish 23% VAT. If you withdraw 10 days into a 30-day period, you pay €22.14 × 10 ÷ 30 = €7.38 and get €14.76 back.
7.7. Model withdrawal form

When something doesn't work (complaints)
If something doesn't work, or Karui doesn't work as these terms describe, write to admin@karui.eu. Tell us what happened and when, and give the e-mail address of your account. We'll reply within 14 days. If we don't reply to a consumer's complaint within that time, we treat it as accepted.
We fix faults. Short interruptions, maintenance and outages at our providers, described in section 12, are normal for a service of this kind and don't mean the service fails to conform to the contract, so we don't refund them.
Consumers and the people described in section 7.1 have statutory rights when a digital service doesn't conform to the contract, and we don't limit them. We first bring the service into conformity. You can ask for a lower price or withdraw from the contract only if a fix is impossible, if we refuse it or don't make it within a reasonable time, if the problem comes back despite the fix, or if it is serious enough to justify that straight away. You can't withdraw from the contract over a minor lack of conformity.
For businesses without consumer protection, we fix faults, but we don't lower the price or refund money. Section 14 describes our liability to them.
9
Acceptable use
You must not use Karui to:
- break the law or help someone else break it;
- create or store material depicting the sexual abuse of children;
- harm, harass or threaten other people;
- create malware, attack computer systems or phish for data;
- attack, overload or try to break the security of Karui or of our providers' services;
- work around plan limits, for example with several accounts or automated requests;
- resell access to Karui or offer it to others as your own service;
- infringe the rights of others, including copyright and privacy.
Moderation. Your content is encrypted, so we don't read it, review it or scan it automatically. We act on what we can verify: reports, orders from competent authorities, and technical signals such as unusual load or attempts to work around limits. You can report content you believe is illegal to admin@karui.eu, saying what it is and why you think it is illegal.
10
Your content and model answers
Your content is yours. We acquire no rights to what you write or upload, or to the answers you get. We store and transmit it only in encrypted form and only to provide the service. We don't use it to train models.
You are responsible for what you upload. Only upload content you have the right to use.
Model answers can be wrong. A model can make mistakes, give outdated or made-up information, and doesn't know your situation the way a professional does. Answers are not medical, legal, financial or any other professional advice. Check them before you rely on them, especially when it matters. The same goes for search results and documents the model creates.
11
Third-party services
Karui uses the providers described in the privacy policy: NEAR AI and Phala for model inference, including Tinfoil behind Phala's gateway for Heavy when Phala has no host of its own; Brave Search for web search; and Polar for payments.
Connectors on the Pro plan link the model to services you choose and connect yourself. Your browser sends requests to them directly, and they see what they receive. We are not responsible for these services or for what they do with data. Their own terms and privacy policies apply. Connector actions that change something wait for your confirmation.
12
Availability and changes to the service
We work to keep Karui running without interruption, but we don't guarantee constant availability. There is maintenance, and there are outages on our side and at our providers. If an inference request fails, you see an error; we do not retry it at another provider. Heavy may use Tinfoil behind Phala's gateway as described in section 2. That route is selected before sending, not as a retry of a failed request.
Karui keeps evolving. We may change models, providers and features when changes at our providers, the law, security or the development of the service require it. Such changes cost you nothing. If a change significantly and negatively affects your access to Pro, we'll tell you in advance. As a consumer, you can then end the contract within 30 days of the change and get a refund for the unused part of the period you paid for.
The Free plan costs nothing, and its scope and limits may change.
13
Ending the contract
By you. You can delete your account at any time: Settings, Danger zone tab, "Delete account". We'll send you a link to confirm it. Deleting your account erases your content (backups are gone within 14 days at most) and ends your Pro subscription. We don't refund the rest of the period you paid for. If you want to withdraw from the contract, do it before you delete your account (section 7).
By us. We may block your account or end the contract if you seriously or repeatedly break section 9, or where the law or a decision of a competent authority requires it. We'll e-mail you what happened and why, unless the law forbids us to. You can appeal the decision by writing to admin@karui.eu. If we block your account or end the contract because you broke these terms, we don't refund the rest of the period you paid for.
Apart from such cases, we may end the contract for a valid reason, such as shutting down the service, with at least 30 days' notice. We'll turn off renewal straight away. If the period you paid for ends after the contract does, we'll refund those days.
14
Liability
We are responsible for providing the service in line with these terms and the law. We are not responsible for:
- the content of model answers or decisions made on the basis of them (section 10);
- content that can't be decrypted because you lost your password and your recovery phrase (section 4);
- services you connect yourself (section 11);
- interruptions caused by force majeure or by outages at our providers that are beyond our control.
Towards consumers, we do not exclude or limit any liability that the law does not allow us to exclude or limit.
If you use Karui as a business (other than a person described in section 7.1, who has consumer protection), our liability is limited to the amount you paid for Pro in the last 12 months and does not cover lost profits. This limit does not apply to damage caused intentionally.
15
Risks of using services over the internet
Using services over the internet carries risks such as malware on your device, messages pretending to be from us (phishing), and someone taking over your account by learning your password. We never ask for your password or recovery phrase by e-mail. Sign in only at karui.eu. Keep your browser and system up to date and turn on two-step verification.
16
Changes to these terms
We may change these terms for a valid reason: a change in the law, a change to the service, its prices or its providers, or the need to make wording clearer. We'll tell you about a change by e-mail or in the application at least 14 days before it takes effect. If you don't agree, you can delete your account or cancel Pro before that day. A change never affects a period you have already paid for to your disadvantage.
17
Governing law and disputes
The contract is governed by Polish law. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live.
Disputes with consumers are decided by the court that has jurisdiction under the general rules. Disputes with businesses are decided by the court that has jurisdiction for our registered address.
As a consumer, you can also use out-of-court ways of resolving a dispute, such as help from a municipal or district consumer ombudsman (rzecznik konsumentów) or a permanent consumer arbitration court at a regional Trade Inspection office. You can find more at polubowne.uokik.gov.pl. Taking part in such a procedure is voluntary for both sides. If you live in another EU country, your national consumer authority or European Consumer Centre can also help.
18
Final provisions
These terms are available at karui.eu/terms/en. You can save or print them at any time. This English version is a translation. If the versions differ, the Polish version prevails.
If any provision turns out to be invalid, the rest still applies.
